Scare on the Square!

Wadsworth - Join us and the rest of the Downtown Wadsworth businesses at Scare on the Square tomorrow night, October 24, 2013 between 6pm and 8pm.  Bring the kids to Downtown Wadsworth for a Halloween celebration. Haunted Maze (for Grades K-5!). Get your kids involved in the Costume Contest. TRICK or TREATING in our neighborbood stores. A scary good time for all! Find us located on the Square in front of the Time Warner Cable building!

"Costumed characters of all sizes are expected to take over downtown Wadsworth Thursday during the Scare on the Square event.
Scare on the Square will be from 6-8 p.m., according to Jack Ollom, executive director of Downtown Wadsworth, sponsor of the event.
A haunted maze will be available for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Ollom said the maze will be constructed of black plastic and will have "scary things" suitable for those age groups. Entrance to the maze will be gained by making a food donation for the local Salvation Army.
All age groups can compete in a costume contest sponsored by the local VFW, Ollom noted. The contest will be in the parking lot behind Whole Day Cafe. The competition will be within categories from infant to adult, Ollom added.
Downtown stores will participate in a trick or treat event, with a pumpkin in the window of the individual store indicating which stores are participating.
In addition, the Wadsworth Library is holding a pumpkin decorating contest. The decorated pumpkins will be outside the library beginning at 5:30 p.m. during Scare on the Square. Visitors will have until 7 p.m. that evening to vote for their favorite pumpkin. Winners will be announced at 7:15 p.m.
The decorated pumpkins will be categorized by age: age 11, ages 12-18 and ages 19 and over. There will also be a best in show category. The pumpkins will be judged on originality, creativity and quality of work within each age group.
An entry form for this contest can be obtained at the library, located at 132 Broad St. Pumpkins must be delivered to the library's children department between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday
Ollom stated up to 5,000 are expected to participate in Scare on the Square, but acknowledged that attendance will be "weather driven."
The city-wide trick or treat night will be held October 31 from 6-8 p.m."
